Our Vision

Open Campus aims to foster an open ecosystem that unites educators, learners, publishers, and co-publishers worldwide. At the heart of the Protocol is a content tokenization engine that brings educational content from our partners to the blockchain. Content is created, minted and traded as NFTs, and revenues generated are shared among all – ensuring everyone is earning their fair share for their contributions. EDU is the governance and utility token that powers every step of the tokenization, from minting NFTs to revenue payout to contributors, and lays the foundation for the world’s first community-led education protocol.

The Open Campus DAO

The DAO structure enables our community to advance the vision of Open Campus and shape its future direction via a decentralized governance process. Membership is granted to all EDU tokenholders - this confers the right to tokenholders to participate in the decision-making process of the DAO by voting on proposals put forth by others.
Tokenholders participate in the governance of the DAO through a proposal process. The Council, with the support of the administrators, will vet the proposals to ensure they adhere to the guidelines. But the merit of each proposal should be evaluated by tokenholders, and they should collectively vote and decide on whether each proposal is in the best interest of the DAO.

The Council

The Council is the interface with members of the DAO and users of the Open Campus Protocol on a day-to-day basis, interpreting and, where appropriate, operationalizing approved Proposals. It plays an essential role in ensuring that Proposals are handled fairly and transparently, with the collective vision and best interests of the Open Campus ecosystem in mind.
The Council comprises 5 members who will adhere to the EDU governance framework. The Council is responsible for the following:
All new Council members must be voted in by EDU tokenholders during the annual elections, with all future Council members serving for a 12 months term. Council members may be removed from the office by the tokenholders by passing a proposal as set out in the DAO’s governance framework.
